Received this e-mail today from Richard Cordray’s (D. OH) gubernatorial campaign:
Today, the Supreme Court delivered a devastating blow to the ability of public employees to organize as a group and stand up for fair treatment in the workplace.
The 5-4 ruling in Janus v. AFSCME Council 31 effectively weakens collective bargaining efforts by making it difficult for unions to collect dues that cover the costs of negotiating for better pay and benefits for all employees in the workplace.
Anything that makes it harder for workers to get ahead is a loss in my book. It’s now more important than ever that leaders in Ohio fight to create good jobs and raise wages for our workers.
If you’re upset about today’s ruling, you can’t just sit back and hope for change. Add your name right now and let’s do everything we can to support workers’ right to organize and band together.
As CFPB director, I fought to make sure that every working family was treated fairly in the marketplace—and that predatory lenders didn’t get away with ripping people off.
If anything, today’s ruling is a reminder that it falls upon each of us to make sure working Ohioans can make a fair wage and reach their own financial goals.
Let's fight back together,
Rich
