The Planes of Fame Air Museum is located at the Chino, California, airport. The museum was founded in 1957 by Edward T. Maloney with just 10 airplanes. Today the museum has over 150 aircraft, of which more than 50 are flyable. The Mission of Planes of Fame Air Museum is to preserve aviation history, inspire interest in aviation, educate the public, and honor aviation pioneers and veterans. Shown below are some trainers, a drone, and a jet which on display in the museum.
Piper Cub
Nearly 20,000 Piper Cubs were produced between 1938 and 1947. It was originally intended as a trainer and became a popular as a general aviation aircraft. During World War II it was well-suited for military uses including reconnaissance, liaison, and ground control. The military versions of the Piper Cub were designated as the O-59 (1941), L-4 (after 1942), and NE (U.S. Navy). The L-4 Grasshopper was basically identical to the civilian J-3 Cub. The L-4 Grasshopper was also used in the Korean War by both the American and South Korean forces.
Stearman PT-17
This aircraft was introduced in 1934 as a trainer. More than 10,000 were built in the United States. It has a maximum speed of 135 mph and a cruising speed of 96 mph.
Culver Cadet PQ-14B
The Culver Cadet was introduced in 1942 as a radio-controlled drone for training anti-aircraft artillery gunners. It was used throughout World War II and was retired in 1950. A total of 594 were produced.
North American Aviation F-86F Sabre
The F-86 was the first swept-wing transonic jet aircraft built and put into service by the United States. This aircraft saw action in Korea and became the leading fighter aircraft for air forces around the world.
