Postcards to Voters are friendly, handwritten reminders from volunteers to targeted voters giving Democrats a winning edge in close, key races coast to coast.
What started on March 11, 2017 with sharing 5 addresses apiece to 5 volunteers on Facebook so that they could mail postcards to voters in Jon Ossoff’s race grew in one month to 1,200+ volunteers nationwide and over 51,000 postcards mailed.
Now, we consist of over 20,000+ volunteers in every state (including Alaska and Hawaii) who have written close to 3 million postcards to voters in over 100+ key, close elections.
We use an interactive texting service (Abby The Address Bot) to assign addresses to our trusted, returning volunteers. For new volunteers and those organizing postcard parties around the country, we use a commercial Help Desk system to streamline and automate email requests…..
Since launching in the wake of the 2016 elections, the Sister District Project has grown to over 25,000 volunteers across the country. Our volunteers raised more than $350,000 in small-dollar cash donations directly for our candidates in 2017, plus another $350,000 in partnership with allied organizations. We made over 81,000 phone calls, wrote 40,000 postcards, knocked on 30,000 doors, and sent 185,000 text messages.
We’re developing partnerships on the national and local levels with Indivisible, Swing Left, Flippable, One Vote at a Time, Adopt-a-State, MarchOn, Together We Will, Solidarity Sundays, along with countless other progressive organizations and local groups.
We’re also proud to be an organization founded and led by women, including women of color. Four out of five of us quit our jobs to be with Sister District full time.
MISSION
