Congressman Duncan Hunter had a safe Republican district until a week ago when he and his wife were indicted for using campaign money for personal use. Cook Political Ratings moved the race from safe to lean Republican.
Hunter denied doing any wrongdoing and blamed his wife, despite the fact that some of the money was evidently spent on Hunter’s mistresses. The race looks to be headed further downhill for the Congressman, and there is no apparent means for Republicans to replace him on the ballot.
An internal poll by Rep. Duncan Hunter’s Democratic challenger Ammar Campa-Najjar shows the embattled Republican congressman in a tie in California’s 50th District.
Both candidates have 46% of the vote.
The poll conducted by Tulchin Research for Campa-Najjar surveyed 400 likely voters by phone between Aug. 27 and Aug. 30. The margin of error for the poll was 4.9 percentage points.

Democrats Leading in MN CD-8 CD-2; KY CD-6 Tied
www.nytimes.com/...
Minnesota District 8 was thought to be the most vulnerable House Seats now held by a Democrat, but New York Times/Sienna live poll, which is about 60% complete, shows Democrat Joe Radinovich currently has about 5-10% lead over Republican Pete Stauber.
This unionized district swung hard to Trump and has possibly benefited from his placement of tariffs on imported steel, but the district also borders Canada and its many lakes and forests invite recreational uses and environmentalism.
If Radinovich continues this lead, the district race will likely move from the tossup column to lean Democratic. A strong performance here will help Democratic campaigns for Governor and Senator.
Incumbent Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar is considered safe. Tim Walz who is the Democrat nominee for Minnesota Governor is in a race considered to be lean Democrat by Cook Political Reports.
The other race where the polling is just completed by the live poll is KY CD-6. Republican incumbent Andy Barr is tied with Amy McGrath (47.6% to 47.4%). KY CD-6 is rated as a tossup and one to watch on election night.
Next up for the live poll is MN CD-3, a Republican held tossup district where polling has begun.
