After last Sunday’s dumpster fire, there was total radio silence from the WH on the Sunday talk show circuit. No Giuliani, no Stephen Miller, no Lindsey, no McCarthy. No one wanted to go on TV and defend trump or spout new CTs.
But Sen. Ron Johnson (who is not up for reelection) decided to venture out and go out on a limb on MTP, but he ran into a buzz-saw called Chuck Todd. Chuck Todd seems to grown some teeth lately. Watch Chuck’s face and mannerism starting at 0:35 in the video.
On MTP -
Sen Johnson: You’ve got [former CIA director] John Brennan on, you ought to ask director Brennan, what did Peter Strzok mean when he texted Lisa Page on December 15, 2016, quote—.
Todd: What does this have to do with Ukraine?
Todd: I have no idea why Fox News propaganda stuff is popping up on here. I have no idea.
Sen Johnson: Because this is underlining exactly why President Trump is upset, and why his supporters are upset, with the news media,” Johnson exclaimed as both of their voices rose.
Todd: Senator Johnson, please! Can we please answer the question that I asked you, instead of trying to make Donald Trump feel better here that you’re not criticizing him?! I’m just trying to ask a simple question of what made you wince?
Todd: You don’t trust the FBI or CIA?
Johnson: No, I don’t! I didn’t then and I never have.
Rep. Chris Stewart made a pompous ass of himself in the friendly studios of Fox —
Lightweight Gym Jordan also ventured out spewing his usual talking points that trump did not say what he said. Surprisingly, he left out the #PerryMadeMeDoIt defense.
News about Perry being thrown under the proverbial bus was also much talked about today. Here are some comments by acerbic Aiden Wolfe -
Never-trumper Joe Walsh got a chance to go after trump. Good for him.
Colin Powell — what are you going to do about it?
This was Giuliani yesterday expounding on his worldview. Any doubts that the WH is a lunatic asylum have finally been laid to rest.
Not much air time for Democratic leaders either.
Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) on MSNBC -
That is a false charge (GOP Rep. Chris Stewart’s statement that if you release the entire transcript, it is clear that Mr. Volker and others said that there is no quid pro quo). I was there at the deposition of Mr. Volker and the messages sent to the public are accurate and they do reflect what I certainly heard in the deposition, so nice try, but it is just not true.
It is part of the spin and attempt at disinformation and distraction by Republican enablers to try and get the information off of the main topic that the president extorted a foreign leader to get political dirt on a prospective opponent and this is not all right and it is illegal.
Is the media catching on to trump’s serial lying strategy? Will voters?
This commentary from Jake Tapper is worth a watch -
A summary of the Sunday no-show republicans — Zebras! Although, they are more like hyenas.
This is what happens when the truth is not on your side, when you are trying to defend the indefensible, when your lies are so blatant, that even your own staff and party leaders are afraid to speak for you on TV.
But let’s not be under any illusion; the GOP, the WH and right-wing noise machine are on a war footing — against Democrats, against the American People and against the world. Their propaganda blitzkrieg is just starting. trump will double his executive tweeting time. They will burn everything to the ground before admitting to any crimes. We must stay alert, united and we must keep fighting and not let any lie go unchallenged. Let’s work to send trump and GOP to the dustbin of history.
