I’m sick of the Phony Patriot Republicans harping on the whistleblower. It’s nothing more than a distraction from the mountain of evidence against the criminal president. Trump tweets that he (or she) should be outed, that he should testify. Lindsey Graham has insisted that he should be questioned as part of the Senate trial because due process gives Trump the right to face his accuser. Rand Paul is now claiming to know the whistleblower’s identity and is demanding that the media print it, and that the whistleblower is a material witness who should testify.
Bullshit. The whistleblower, at this point, is utterly irrelevant. The whistleblower is nothing more than someone who gave an anonymous tip. He is not a material witness. He is not pressing charges against Trump, and is therefore not Trump’s accuser. The whistleblower could be Joe Biden himself, and would wouldn’t make one iota of difference.
The phone call is the evidence. The testimony of Trump administration officials is the evidence. Those are the witnesses, not the whistleblower. The whistleblower is completely out of the picture, or at least should be.
If someone gives the police an anonymous tip, that person is not a material witness, is not the accuser, and is not brought to testify in a trial. That’s the role of the whistleblower.
I wish the media and the Democrats would say this. Every time the Republicans bring it up. It’s time to shut down this ridiculous line of distraction.
As several of the comments pointed out, another main goal of the GOP whistleblower distraction is to discourage future whistleblowers. Whistleblowers expose crime and corruption, and Republicans know that this hurts them more than Democrats.
If there’s any doubt that the Republicans are the Party Of Corruption, this one chart should put that to rest:
