Good evening, Kibitzers! As sometimes happens, side pocket had an urgent need to be somewhere else this evening, so I have taken over his Sunday timeslot. He may appear on Tuesday at my usual time (or not), but for me, I’ll be away for the winter holidays, so this is my last KTK of the year.
Accordingly, I do not have the weighty topic I’d surely have thought up by Tuesday, but would like to share some Cute Animal Stuff I found online. (Specifically, I found many of the tweets in a Wonkette post by Doktor Zoom. Dok Zoom has a handsome cat named Thornton, who is pictured in a video tweet below the fold.)
And, I cheerfully signed up to take over the Sunday KTK without realizing I’m supposed to be somewhere else when this posts. So, I’m afraid I’m going to be a very spotty host, although I hope I can parachute in for a while. There is a reason I should not agree to do anything on a December weekend day without looking at my calendar. It’s not like Tuesday would have been much better, though.
I initially just wanted to bring you this holiday dog tweet:
But there was also this one that cracked me up. I am so Hugo and Ursula right now. (No sound.)
This artful dog-to-cat holiday segue brought to you by: towels.
Poorly Drawn Cats is a charming Twitter account (although, as an Old, I find it a bit unsettling how many of her readers seem to get the drawings as tattoos). But this one is also pretty funny.
Here’s Thornton:
Then, branching out — there’s this little sea otter, also photoshopped as Baby Yoda.
I will close with this observation:
Oh wait — I have one more thing. I’m in receipt of this message about Tuesday, that I’d like to pass on to others in the New York City area. (If Times Square is unaccountably not convenient to you, check here for events near you.)
URGENT UPDATE: The date is set for the nationwide day of action in advance of the full House vote on Articles of Impeachment. That date is Tuesday, December 17th. Here is what you need to do next:
1) Plan to join us! We will meet starting at 5:30 PM in Times Square, congregating near the George Cohan statue near 46th Street, and radiating out from there as the more arrive. We will rally and march. Please note the march route is not yet set, pending circumstances on the ground; but we will step off sometime between 6 pm and 6:30 pm.
2) Make a sign! The central message of this demonstration is that Donald Trump must be impeached and removed from office- because no one is above the law. Make your signs, banners and other emblems of protest before Tuesday! Just remember- no wooden or metal sticks in signs- use cardboard.
3) Spread the word! We need your help to get out the word about these demonstrations to turn out as many people as possible. Please share this link on your social media networks and if you prefer use the Facebook link here.
We are grateful for your support and we will send more updates as we get closer to Tuesday.
In solidarity-
The NYC Coalition to Impeach & Remove
