West Hartford’s Rally for impeachment was held in the dark, in 28-degree weather with a chill factor of 21 degrees and a constant light rain and sleet mix. However, the turnout was better than I expected. We had @ 150 rally attendees, three or four police officers on foot, one or two press photographers and one maga jackass yelling “common sense” for some reason during most of our chants. Fortunately, he was ignored and was more of a curiosity.
This determined lady could not bring herself to write the squatter-in- chief’s name on her sign. I think she got the idea across nicely.
We met at the steps of the West Hartford Town hall and listened to a few speeches and motivational words from one state senator and our representative to the Connecticut house. As expected, they hit all the right buttons and were as enthusiastic about the impeachment vote and enraged as the rest of us about trump’s destruction of our nation.
The key message was that we have to get out the vote and defeat trump at the polls next November. There was also quite a bit of animosity directed towards barr and moscow mitch.
It was good to be counted among those there. As the senator pointed out, there will come a time when those who aided and abetted trump, mainly through their silence and acquiescence, will regret their support and role in history and loudly proclaim that they really were not on his side. Of course they will.
These ladies get an A for effort, although the slight wind and icy sidewalk made it a little difficult to stand and hold the banner straight. The reflective material really stood out in the night when any light hit it.
We all agree with this!!
