We know that Donald Trump is Public Enemy #1. But he could never have achieved that ignoble status without the enabling (and possibly treasonous) support of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Luckily, there is a viable candidate running to unseat him. Meet Amy McGrath:
The face of dishonor. Of obstruction. Of unscrupulous treachery.
Can Amy McGrath Win?
insiderlouisville.com/.. (7/9/19) News Analysis: Does Amy McGrath have a chance against McConnell?
... By far her biggest advantage is McConnell’s unpopularity. According to polling from Morning Consult, about 36% of Kentuckians approve of the senator, while 50% disapprove of him. (The rest don’t have a clear stance.) And liberals outside of Kentucky really, really do not like McConnell. Those people can’t vote, but they can give money, potentially lots of it.
Secondly, McGrath, who has never held elective office before, showed considerable political skills last year in defeating longtime Lexington Mayor Jim Gray in the Democratic primary for the congressional seat in the Lexington area.
She didn’t win the general election against Andy Barr, but that’s probably because that district is quite conservative (Mitt Romney won it by about 14 percentage points in 2012, Donald Trump by 15 in 2016). McGrath only lost by three points in the general election, a very strong performance.
So the case for McGrath is that she is a talented political figure, will have a well-funded campaign and that Kentuckians are perhaps tired of McConnell.
I could, of course, write a 25-page essay on the very real existential threat Mitch McConnell represents to the future of our country, REGARDLESS of whether a Democrat wins the presidency in 2020, but why? We have seen, day after day, outrage after outrage, what this mealy-mouthed man has done (or refused to do) in his disgusting tenure in the Senate. What we MUST focus on now is getting him out. We must pry him out of the safety of his dark shell and allow someone with true courage and integrity to take his place. Truly, there is no more worthy cause. We can all help, and help we must.
Is there anyone else running against Amy McGrath? Is there any reason for any of us to NOT go all in on defeating Mitch McConnell? (The short answer is no — let’s go!)
I’ve been doing some research, and I’m sorry to report, the same old crap has come up. From a negative article about McGrath last August, The Intercept describes her entry into the race as a burst with a few stumbles. But it got weird:
McGrath burst out of the gate raising more than $7 million and locking down support from the national Democratic Party establishment when she launched on July 9, setting up what looked to be a two-person match between her and McConnell.
But her launch was marred by a series of missteps, odd claims, and flip-flops, capped by her assertion that she would have supported Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court. That statement contradicted her position from a year earlier, and she very quickly returned to saying that she would have opposed Kavanaugh’s nomination.
McGrath’s stumbles created an opening for a competitive Democratic primary, and a number of contenders, including Jones, began floating the possibility of challenging her for the nomination.
From theintercept.com/...”AMY MCGRATH’S SENATE CAMPAIGN MANAGER HELPED GET HER POTENTIAL PRIMARY OPPONENT FIRED” August 18 2019
The article goes on to accuse McGrath’s campaign manager of getting Matt Jones fired, but then a few weeks later, the story changed:
Jones was released from his job as host of "Hey, Kentucky" at WLEX in Lexington earlier this month. The station said the decision was over Jones' possible run for U.S. Senate and his release of a book titled "Mitch, Please."
On his radio show Thursday morning, Jones said he was going on a seven-week book tour, visiting every county in the state, and using that time to talk with citizens and gather input on the possible run.
Jones says he'll wait until after the governor's race is over in November to make a final decision. www.wdrb.com/… Aug 29, 2019
And last month, when Jones decided he wasn’t interested in running for Mitch’s seat after all, it was barely a footnote that it was the Kentucky GOP who filed the complaint that caused him to “lose his job” and not Amy McGrath or her campaign:
Kentucky host Matt Jones says he won't run for Senate after all
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT/WLKY) —
Matt Jones will not run for one of Kentucky's U.S. Senate seats next year, WKYT reports.
Jones made the announcement on Kentucky Sports Radio, which he owns and founded, Friday morning.
Jones was off the show briefly after the Republican Party of Kentucky filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), accusing Jones of violating regulations by accepting campaign contributions from corporations.
Just last week, he said he was close to giving up, but then reconsidered saying he would wait until the outcome of the governor's election. It was a sure no if Bevin won, but he said he'd think on it if Beshear came out on top.
He had previously said that if he chose not to run, he hopes another Democrat will step into the ring, one he says he hopes can beat McConnell.

So between the hiccups and the kick-ups — McGrath’s candidacy is not getting the kind of attention and support it should. Honestly, every democrat in America should be supporting this very capable woman. Beating Mitch McConnell is as critical to America’s survival as defeating Donald Trump.
I am dumbfounded that we are not all seeing and acting on this — we have a very qualified candidate! And Mitch is very unpopular in Kentucky! (“Mitch McConnell Has The Same Low Approval Rating Of The GOP Governor Who Just Lost In Kentucky” — www.politicususa.com/...)
I know we all have a lot of irons in the fire — but this is one arrow we should all be priming — because when November 2020 comes, we can strike this target together!
$7.00 ? Yes, I can!
Can’t picture Mitch McConnell doing this, can you?
Amy needs some HIVE love!
Let’s join her SWARM and
chase Mitch out of Washington.
Group Guidelines
The DKHive Community group has been created by former Kamala2020 Group members to positively support efforts to re-take the Senate and keep Democratic control of the House of Representatives.
We will support candidates supported by Senator Harris as well as other candidates, especially women, POC, and down ballot democrats in local races.
Recipes and cat pics work, too.
All should be made to feel welcome here. What’s not welcomed here is petty bickering over any of our preferred candidates, or personal attacks on fellow Democrats. We’re not responsible for the actions of others who may offend, insult or attempt to sow discord and disunity — that’s on them.
What we are responsible for are our own words and actions — that’s 100% on us.
We’d like to ask all group members, as well as those dropping by who support or are interested in Democratic control of the Senate and House, that we not respond to negativity from other campaigns’ supporters with even more negativity. Let’s do better than our best and respond with respect, humor or try to hold our peace.

If you would like to join our group, please ask for an invitation in the comments, and one will be KosMailed to you.
Our members will largely share in writing diaries, in much the same fashion as we did with the Kamala2020 group — all voices are welcome. We hope to continue with regular 2 or 3 weekly diaries, although we will vary the publish times of the diaries throughout the week. Sign-up schedule is below — we’ll help you if you’re new at this. We want to hear from you!
