Fun and awe and love are very similar. They are altered states when your mind lets go of linear thinking and works in parallel processing mode. The Mass requires people to be solemn and reverent but it's called a celebration and results in rejoicing. Johan Huizinga wrote in Homo Ludens how so much of human activity is play. Love certainly is irrational. Play teaches you to think of yourself in parallel, that you are worthy of love in spite of everything about you, but that you cannot force people to love you.
