Americans had been used to late night comics being politically agnostic. In some ways, it was almost awkward having them comment on the news of the day, yet never calling out the true disgraces, never taking the obvious “right side.”
Thank god for Stephen Colbert.
Colbert called out Trump, big. I actually think this matters. Despite Colbert’s bravery in taking a stand on a show that might “lose audience” terrified of hearing the truth, he tells the truth. Loss of viewers be damned.

He has never been better than his most appropriate beat-down challenging Trump for the deafening silence as to the domestic terrorist from the Coast Guard who basically planned a personal war against Trump opponents. He had the stuff to back it up. This was serious, and breathtaking.
Silence, from the White House. Heart stopping. Unforgiveable act #135,258
Colbert:
For those unable to play the video, some excerpts via The Daily Beast.
“This man is a homicidal, racist monster serving in our military,” Colbert added. “But don’t worry, the commander-in-chief slapped him down with a savage tweet of… nothing.”
“Silence. Hasn’t commented,” he said. “It makes sense. Hasson only wants to kill everyone on Earth. It’s not like he’s hosting SNL.”
I will add that Trump found time to call out Smollette. That would be appropriate, IF Trump also went after people like the terrorist wanting to kill Democrats. Trump’s “outrage” is all-too selective.

This matters.
Late night talk show hosts essentially have nothing to gain, and possibly a lot to lose if they wander into politics. Some — not all — are stepping up to the plate, and undertaking a higher calling.
Stephen Colbert knows that his voice resonates. We should have his back on all of this. He knows that the country is hanging in a precarious state, and he is owning-up to the huge responsibility that goes with having such a large audience. He is going to tell it like it is, because it is the right thing to do.

The truly bizarre thing? This really is in no way a “political comment.” How can anyone believe that a man threatening to kill innocent people, of any stripe, how is that “political”?
It is NOT.
Only in Trump’s world, which — and this is so important — is not the real world, can this be considered “political.”
Trump is so devoid of morality that anyone in favor of him will not be criticized, even a wanna-be killer.

Were that our only problem.
Guess who else has been silent?
The usual suspects, ones who like to carry themselves as if on a higher plane than Trump: McConnell, McCarthy, new A.G. Barr and the entire Justice Department, nothing from them.

This is unacceptable on so many levels. We should get Stephen’s back. Email the show, give him support to carry on. Thank him for willingness to simply say what is right!
I wish Sarah Huck was willing to speak, because I would think the first 5 questions would all involve: “Why the silence on this potential killer?”
Not a chance in hell she shows up in front of Mic any time soon.

Last thing.
I doubt the law enforcement agents in charge of this case are bleeding heart liberals. So let’s also recognize that they did their jobs, AND just as important, then made sure the world knew what they found. These are professionals, doing a professional job, correctly. That’s something.
Let us appreciate them, we have every reason to believe they saved lives, then made sure everyone understood the deeper problem. These people are out there.
That is an up note to end on. Our professionals are acting professionally. Thank you to them, doing the right thing.

Peace, y’all. Love one another and cancel this out as much as possible.
If you support my writing here, a nice gesture is to consider ordering one of my Good***** novels, lotta love. Tiny donation gets you a ass-kicking novel, too. I really let the freak fly in those. But sneaky deep.
