Under the leadership of Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, the House Intelligence Committee interviewed people regarding Donald Trump’s ties to Russia—though they studiously ignored interviews with 26 witnesses requested by Democrats. However, the contents of many of those testimonies remained locked up. Nunes and others released fragments, but only when they thought those statements bolstered Trump.
But Rep. Adam Schiff, the new Democratic head of the committee, has announced that the committee has voted to send transcripts of all of the closed door testimony to the Department of Justice and the Special Counsel’s Office. That includes testimony from Jared Kushner, Jefferson Sessions, Roger Stone, Michael Cohen, Michael Flynn, Steve Bannon, Michael Caputo, JD Gordon, Boris Ephsteyn, and Trump’s longtime bodyguard Keith Schiller.
At the same time, Schiff said that the House Intelligence Committee is “expanding the scope” of its investigation beyond Russia. This follows a statement from Schiff on Tuesday night pushing back against Donald Trump’s threat against investigation.
