June 19, 2016 — the last day I was able to walk unassisted. At 43, I was an active man training Sailors in physical fitness and preparing my mind and body for the rigors of deployment and continued service in the U.S. Navy. Life changed.
A sudden accident caused a spinal cord injury which left me paralyzed from the waist down.
“I got this!”
My resolve: KEEP GOING!
I had to show my family, friends, colleagues, and the Sailors watching me that life doesn’t stop and we can’t make excuses for not fulfilling our purposes.
What a difference a week makes.
So, I did what I had to do.
I completed two degrees during rehab and graduated Cum Laude before retirement.
