Before he was fired/let go/forced out as president of the NRA, it seems that Ollie North had co-authored a memo to the NRA general counsel outlining his concern about the fees paid to an outside attorney named Bill Brewer. Since being retained by the NRA in 2018, Brewer has billed them for over $24 million, almost $100,000/day. Turns out the rest of the NRA board either didn’t want to believe it, or didn’t want it looked at. At this point it’s hard to tell which.
This brings at least a couple of questions to mind:
What does the NRA general counsel’s office do, that they have to retain outside counsel to the tune of $24 million?
What the hell is Bill Brewer’s firm doing for and with this $24 million? Any chance this law firm is being used as a pass-through to funnel some big bucks to someplace the NRA wants/needs it to go?
$24 million is a whole lot of pork for some enterprising investigator to sink their teeth into.
