Good morning, Newdists, and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! (Or, as annieli might call it, “Mom? Day.”) If I were back home in Pennsylvania, I’m sure my mom and I would be enjoying a nice meal today, but we’ll have to settle for a phone call this morning. How, if at all, are you celebrating Mother’s Day?
Since today is both Mother’s Day and National Limerick Day, I went searching online for some Mother’s Day limericks. I found a few that I liked:
A mother is patient and kind,
Forgiving, forbearing, refined;
But mind if she cracks,
When stressed to the max,
‘Cos she’ll wallop your sorry behind.
As a baby I loved my dear mother
‘Till she gave me my sweet little brother.
But hang on there mum
What’s that lump in your tum,
O.M.G. is she baking another?
When you’re shrunk by one shrink or another,
‘Cause you’re pissed at your sister or brother,
Does your tongue tend to trip
In a Freudian slip—
Saying one thing while meaning your mother?
Finally, a limerick of resistance:
As we celebrate mothers today
Demand family leave, equal pay
You can’t be pro-mom and then not have a qualm
When our girls are held back with no say
In honor of my own mom, this morning’s food pics are all of her favorite things:
What do you want to chat about this morning?
All are welcome to join the fun, the silliness, the conversations. If you don’t know...just ask! Some things really do require a bit of explanation.
There will be a few surprises along the way, all good ones, we hope.
We are here to keep building the Daily Kos Community.
We post Mon-Sun at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. On Sunday we go to the C!U!A! posting to show support for all the work being done to promote Democratic candidates/causes. Please to join us there, as well.
Pie fights will be met with outrageous ridicule and insults. Trolls will be incinerated and served at the next group BBQ. As briquettes.
