Way way back in time to the late 1970s there was a made for television mini-series that I remember watching. I think that many other Jewish families at the time had it on too.
The year was 1978 and the tv series was “The Holocaust” a fictionalized account of two main families (One German Nazi, one German/Polish Jewish) and their experiences during the Holocaust.
Gerald Green wrote the accompanying novel to the mini-series which I have never read until now.
As I have mentioned before I have been blessed by huge donations of books by friends to help me pass the time, reading a book every few days.
I remember being heavily touched by the movie, Back then I knew it was not true and did not do enough to present the true horror of the time, but it did introduce the experience to many who needed to be introduced to the topic.
Having lost much of my extended family to the Holocaust I watched in horror even though I was just 8 years ol.
Anyway I just started the book and despite its somewhat of controversy (again some said it trivialized/did not show the full horrors of the time) I look forward to reading the book.
How about you? What are you currently reading?
