We tend to focus on the national political environment. It is natural. We are bombarded daily with reminders of the danger we are in.
But often people forget local elections. To see how much damage can be done locally, simply look at the Alabama Abortion bill.
But positive change can also happen when we elect good people locally. In a suburban district outside of Philadelphia, a young woman, Katie Muth, unseated a longtime Republican politico through hard work and flipped a gerrymandered district.
Muth has been leading the charge on getting justice for sexual abuse victims. The statue of limitations had protected some of predators in the clergy and education field because the victims were children when the event happened and it does not get reported. Muth is a survivor of sexual assault herself and knows the damage it can do to people for the rest of their lives. Insurance lobbyists are fighting this tooth and nail. But PA Democrats like Katie Muth are trying to fight back.

“Democratic Sen. Katie Muth of Montgomery County, who ousted a longtime Republican in November, has introduced a statute of limitations bill that would give victims two years to file lawsuits. Odds are long for its passage with Republicans in charge.
‘You’re talking to someone who’s not supposed to be in the Senate right now and didn’t have the odds to win,’ Muth told me Tuesday. ‘I think our odds are maybe against us. But again, I’m not a quitter.’”
The corrupt PA GOP got thrashed last November. They only held on to their seats in the PA leg. due to some of the most extreme gerrymandering in the country. If we want justice for these victims they have to be defeated. Supporting good Democrats like Katie Muth is a way to do it.
