Today’s Dawn Chorus is an open thread since all the usual hosts (including me) have their beaks and bills away from home somewhere. So here are a few birdies giving us some encouragement to open our own beaks to share our birdy news of the week.
Welcome to the Chorus and tell us who’s been bending your ear lately.
Two male Barn Swallows. “Have you checked out that pond around the corner? Bugs galore!”
Pair of oystercatchers explaining “territory” to another. This is our beach, buddy.
House wren and nestlings. Last cozy day, next day these had fledged.
Adult eagle arriving on the rock, giving youngster what for. Youngster responds, gotcha.
(Next scene: adult screams into the air while youngster sits quietly)
Close-talkin crows debating.
Red breasted mergansers showing who’s got the best chops
Brewers blackbird telling me I’m too close. Nest nearby. Ok ok.
Belted Kingfisher barely has time to tell another to buzz off. Can you talk that fast?
Report below and talk amongst yourselves. I’ll be home at 7 or so tonight to see and enjoy your birdy reports!
