As Deputy Director of OFA and Obama's 2012 National Field Director, Jeremy Bird understood expanding the electorate was the path to victory for national and local Democrats. In 2013, Bird founded Battleground Texas and has since focused on registering and mobilizing new voters there.
"A new group called Battleground Texas is planning to spend tens of millions of dollars trying to turn Texas blue by 2020. It is made up of Obama campaign veterans, like former field director Jeremy Bird, with lots of experience targeting and turning out minority voters for Democrats. Bird wants to do the same thing for Texas."

After the disastrous 2014 mid-term Texas turnout, a paltry 33.7% of voters cast ballots, TX GOP laughed at Battleground Texas' early mobilization efforts.
Yet Bird continued to preach, "Texas isn't red state. It's a not-voting state." In 2018, Beto O'Rourke took Bird's mission statement to heart and set out to prove it. He earned more votes than any other Democrat in Texas history. Turnout shattered all the experts and GOP's projections. Nearly doubling 2014 mid-terms total vote, Texas saw the 6th highest increase in turnout.

While Cruz managed to hang on and edged out Beto for the Senate win, many down-ballot Democrats scored victories due to the massive expansion of left-center electorate.
The TX GOP stopped laughing. And, at long last the DNC and DCCC stopped ignoring the Texas Democratic Party.
While it is good news that the DCCC and Tom Perez committed to pouring resources into Texas for the 2020 campaigns, the local grassroots organizations know there is no time to waste.
Battleground Texas is working hard to register 50,000+ new voters for next year's primary and they need your help.
"Battleground Texas’ 19th class of Fellows just started, and they’re already getting to work -- but they need your help. In order to register voters, they need pens, paper, clipboards, gas cards -- basically, Voter Registration Kits.
Our finance team pulled the numbers and each kit costs $43 -- that’s where you come in. Can you chip in to help us make sure our Fellows have the supplies they need to register as many voters as possible?"

Thanks for any support helping to paint Texas blue and upending all the Trump’s plans and the Texas GOPers efforts to win the state and hold their Congressional districts.

Texas GOP have created draconian laws to supress voter registration. Volunteers must complete Volunteer Deputy Voter Registar training in order to register voters.
The $43 covers these expenses for each trained Fellow:
Sturdy Clipboard $9
Pens $5
Sunscreen $7 (a must in Texas summer)
Water Bottle $2
Gas Card $20
This is Battleground Texas’ NINETEENTH registration drive in SIX years. They blew past their initial goals during several 2017-2018 registration drives!
