I have examples to share with you. I will describe my intention and show what the camera captured. The machine shown and I sometimes have different opinions what a good photo should look like.
I was after the squint of ET’s (Mom cat) right eye. There was a twitch along with the, “I just bit a lemon” response. ET was always a patient and generous model when photographed.
I was intrigued with the dew drop on the right side of this rose. I got lucky here.
I wanted the depth when I got this Great Horned Owl. I was miffed when I saw the blur.
I liked that I got the small glint in the Cedar Waxwing’s eye.
The garlic blooms where less than crisp.
I want expression from my subject (when they can provide them). Purdy’s displeasure and the box turtle’s delight was a thrilling moment.
I strive for composition sometimes. Sometimes, it just a matter of
perspective. The tiny turtle is one of those times when you can’t explain size without a photo.
I miss the Kodak Brownie. Here is ours. It is stamped inside with the code, YMRO (March 1956). I still have the users manual and easy carry case. I can’t get the 620 film or know someone with a dark room.
Some photographs are just exactly what they appear to be. The camera captures the moment and the story is complete.
Thanks for indulging me and my mind’s eye.
