The organizers of a planned “Straight Pride” parade in Boston called 911 to report suspicious envelopes full of a substance law enforcement later determined to be glitter. Three members of “Super Happy Fun America,” the group organizing around the claim that straight people are an “oppressed majority,” received the envelopes. Of glitter.
A hazmat team responded and shut down a street after Samson Racioppi called 911; Mark Sahady, who has numerous ties to violent white nationalist and other far-right groups, also received an envelope. Racioppi is feeling like quite the martyr over this, telling TPM that he was a “victim” of “violence,” that “My neighbors are now probably pretty irritated with me,” and that “I wouldn’t wish this for anyone.” Again, we are talking about glitter.
Yeah, well, LGBTQ people in the Boston area wouldn’t wish for a parade founded on homophobia held by far-right brawlers, but here we are. One side is fighting with their fists and the other is sending glitter.
