In WAYR?, I note what I’m reading and comment...you note what you are reading and comment. Occasionally, I may add a section or a link related to books…my primary focus this year will be finishing the books that read (when I looked at the number of books that I actually finished last year for the Year in Review...I was a little embarrassed)...this year I am off to a good start.
Permanent Reading List:
The Valley of Fear by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The Cross of Redemption: Uncollected Writings by James Baldwin w/ introduction by Randall Kenan
I have finished reading:
Genius- The Life and Science of Richard Feynman by James Gleick
Yes Chef: A Memoir by Marcus Samuelsson with Veronica Chambers
It’s interesting that I completed both of these books at the same time...because one very common theme that I found with the Nobel Prize-winning bongo playing physicist and the award-winning New York-based chef from Sweden is the idea of what Mr. Samuelsson called “flavor chasing”...that is (I think): mastering the details of your trade/skill and then trusting that mastery and your own intuition to seek new, interesting, and eclectic horizons in the field.
I am reading:
The Grass is Singing by Doris Lessing
The Selected Letters of Ralph Ellison by Ralph Ellison (edited by John F. Callahan and Marc C. Connor)— Just began.
