If you want to focus on empathy, watch a few minutes of Philip Agnew at a recent rally in Iowa City, Iowa:
Agnew was preaching Bernie’s campaign credo of “fighting for someone you don’t know.” That mentality of course is what drives dedicated activists and dedicated public servants.
The vet in the poignant video below — a retired search-and-rescue corpsman — obviously embodied that credo in his work. This touching moment of appreciation for fighting for someone you don’t know occurred at a campaign event last December in Carson City, Nevada:
Here’s another one of my favorites: At a time when it was never more critical to elect a president from our side of the aisle — and when we know that only a small minority of Americans always vote Democratic — Kamala Harris reminded us that we’re at our best when our hearts are filled with empathy, not bitterness:
Thank you, Senator Harris.
