I was just introduced to the new Anti-Greta thanks to the Washington Post article and some embedded videos.
www.washingtonpost.com/…
Naomi Seibt is a 19-year-old German who, like Greta, is blond, eloquent and European. But Naomi denounces “climate alarmism,” calls climate consciousness “a despicably anti-human ideology,” and has even deployed Greta’s now famous “How dare you?” line to take on the mainstream German media.
Naomi denounces the science of climate change and wants you to believe in the science of climate realism. But actually that “climate realism” is a version of climate denial. So, the plastic doll, doesn’t want to be called the anti-Greta, but says we need to doubt the science of climate crisis, but listen to the science of climate realism. Who is funding the climate realism science? Climate realism is funded by big corporations using science as a whore. Pay someone enough and you get warped science that tells you what you want to hear.
This video has a publish date of December 2019 and has 2.5K likes and 219 dislikes. Who are all those people liking this propaganda?
This is a way to chill those young climate activist and keep consumers consuming. Keep them mesmerized. Greta is genuine and the science of climate crisis is the best approximation about our current condition and where we are headed. There are so many ways for humans to bury their heads in the sand and the anti-Greta movement is yet another one.
Naomi’s vision of the future is one in which young people are happily using their newest iPhones with no cares. All media addicts like Google and Facebook and other corporations want this. We and future generations are supposed to be plugged into the “right” propaganda. But that “right” is leading those who follow into anti-realism and thus anti-science (in contrast with unadulterated science). Who needs a world of children on iPhones while the real world gets ignored? We already have that.
She’s a fantastic voice for free markets and for climate realism,” said James Taylor, director of the Arthur B. Robinson Center for Climate and Environmental Policy at the Heartland Institute, an influential libertarian think tank in suburban Chicago that has the ear of the Trump administration.
Imagine all those plastic teenage girls falling in line with the glitz of Naomi as portrayed like any commercialized commodity. And then look at poor, plain looking Greta Thunberg.
Now you can have your own plastic doll spokesperson who certainly is delivering a message more appealing than Greta's.
But there has been active anti-Greta trolling on the internet for some time.
Here is the realism: how are people, businesses, cities and countries going to pay for the damage from extreme weather events? What about famine, fires and flooding and displaced populations? How are these things going to get better with the anti-Greta approach? In actuality, it is a call to ignore these events. It is utterly irresponsible, but totally predictable, for the anti-reality factions who gave us Trump to find a way to direct their propaganda at children who want a better world. Yes, they are dangling a “better world” version, but it’s a fake world.
Care of creation needs to be our duty. We should stop exploiting creation as our current collective life choices demand.
Humans will be divided again. There will be those who want a fairy tale life and those who can accept the complexities of reality and are willing to do the work that is being asked of us.
Compare the Anti-Greta “no solution other than play time on I-phones” to this solution filled short video with the actual Greta and the Guardian:
