Please share this new flyer for the only North State Delta Tunnel hearing on March 2nd. The artwork by Mahlija Florendo. Carpools are coming from all over to support the Tribal members and youth that demanded a North State hearing. According to Regina Chichizola of Save California Salmon:
“On February 28, the Trump administration signed the Westlands Water District's Permanent Contract to the North State's water, and said any money made from the contract would be used to build new reservoirs. This water, much of it which comes from the Trinity River, will water poisoned lands.
The day before yesterday the state announced that the Klamath salmon numbers are expected to be low this year, and we will likely have another poor fishing season. Earlier this week we learned California is headed into another drought.
Last week, the Trump administration approved their Biological Opinions for their new water plan for the state and federal water project. This plan will divert much more water from our rivers and the Trinity reservoirs and Shasta dam, and does not include Shasta dam fish passage or releases for Delta smelt.
Despite the dire situation Governor Newsom continues to push for more water diversions from the North State's rivers and Bay Delta. This is despite the fact that cities are saving water. This is all truly a water grab for the 1%. It is time for us to stand up for our rivers. See you in Redding.”

Northern California Tribal Water Protectors and Youth to Rally in Defense of Salmon at Redding Delta Tunnel Meeting On March 2nd
The Department of Water Resources’ Delta Tunnel Is Part of A Larger Plan
to Export Water for the Agribusiness
El Pom (what is now known as Redding, CA): Yurok, Hoopa Valley, Karuk, Pit River and Miwok Tribal members, and other river and salmon protectors will be rallying in Redding 5:30 p.m. Monday with local Indigenous people to protest the Department of Water Resources’ Delta Tunnel proposal that threatens imperiled salmon and North State water quality.
What: The rally will take place before the Department of Water Resources’ North State Public Scoping Meeting for the Delta Conveyance Plan, a proposal to construct a tunnel capable of pumping 6,000 cubic feet per second of water from the Bay-Delta to Southern California Ag and metropolitan users. Indigenous people from throughout the North State will be testifying about how this project is water grab of North State resources that would further decimate salmon and violate tribal sovereignty. This hearing is only happening because Tribes and Youth demanded a North State hearing.
When: The rally will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 2. The scoping meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
Where: The press conference/rally will take place on the lawn at the Civic Auditorium in Redding. The DWR’s meeting will be across the street at the Sheraton Hotel at Turtle Bay, 820 Sundial Drive, in Redding.
Who: Save California Salmon, the Hoopa High School Water Protectors Club and the Winnemem Wintu Tribe are helping to organize the rally along with educators, activists, youth, and officials from the Hoopa Valley, Yurok, Karuk, Miwok, Pit River and Winnemem Wintu tribes.
