The (politically) late Tom Steyer and Mike Bloomberg have taught voters an important lesson about billionaires: They can piss away hundreds of millions of dollars without it having the slightest personal effect upon them. Neither will eat fewer steaks or drink one less dram of single malt or miss a single limo ride, even though they spent vast sums on their ridiculous and born to lose Presidential campaigns. I’m sure we’ll find that even their charitable giving will continue without abatement. They can afford it all and will still leave behind heirs to suffer under crippling piles of wealth when they finally shuffle off their respective mortal coils.
It would make absolutely no difference to anything but their inflated senses self worth if, instead of paying for vanity Presidential campaigns, the money had gone to pay higher, fairer taxes. Thank you Tom and Mike for conclusively demonstrating to America that higher taxes on the super-rich will harm nothing but their egos, Those fortunes you so wildly expended, that you will never miss, were not wasted entirely in vain.
