During the 1920s, automobiles were no longer just the playthings of the rich and famous but were available to middle class Americans. By 1921 cars were becoming more common among average Americans and trucks were beginning to replace horse-drawn wagons. The 1920s was an era of self-expression and the automobile was simply one form of self-expression. With the automobile, touring became more popular.
