Douglas A-4 Skyhawk
The Skyhawk was a common U.S. Navy aircraft export during the postwar era. Its small size meant that it could be operated from the older, smaller World War II-era aircraft carriers operated by many navies around the world. This airplane has a cruising speed of 498 mph, a top speed of 673 mph, and a range of 2,525 miles.
McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II
First flown in 1958, the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is one of the most successful fighters. This fighter was used by the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. This aircraft has a cruising speed of 590 mph, a top speed of 1,400 mph, and a range of 1,750 miles.
McDonnell Douglas F-15A Eagle
The design for the F-15 Eagle emerged from the lessons learned in Vietnam. The F-15 was created in the early 1970s. It has a top speed of 1,875 mph and a ferry range of 3,450 miles.
North American F-86H Sabre
The F-86 was the first operational American jet fighter with a swept-wing design. The first prototype of this aircraft flew in 1947. According to the display:
“The F-86 was the first American aircraft to benefit directly from the jet designs and technological advancements developed by Germany during the Second World War, including elements of German jet engine and swept-wing designs.”
This aircraft has a top speed of 687 mph and a range of 1,525 miles.
North American F-100F Super Sabre
The F-100 first flew in 1953 and reached Mach 1.04. In 1961, the Super Sabres entered combat in Southeast Asia. This aircraft has a cruising speed of 584 mph, a top speed of 871 mph, and a range of 1,661 miles.
North American FJ-3 Fury
This is a swept-wing carrier-capable fighter produced for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The FJ-3 became operational in 1955. This aircraft has a top speed of 675 mph and a range of 860 miles.
Republic F-84 Thunderstreak
The swept-wing F-84F Thunderstreak evolved from the straight-wing F-84 Thunderjet. The prototype first flew in 1950 and deliveries began in 1954. This aircraft has a cruising speed of 535 mph, a top speed of 695 mph, and a range of 810 miles.
Republic F-105G Thunderchief
According to the display:
“The Republic F-105 Thunderchief was an American supersonic fighter-bomber used by the United States Air Force. The Mach 2-capable F-105 conducted the majority of strike bombing missions during the early years of the Vietnam War; it was the only U.S. aircraft to have been removed from combat due to high loss rates.”
The F-105 has a cruising speed of 596 mph, a top speed of 1,390 mph, and a range of 2,206 miles.
LTV A-7 Corsair II
The A-7 first flew in 1968. A total of 459 were produced for the U.S. Air Force. This aircraft has a cruising speed of 454 mph, a top speed of 633 mph, and a range of 3,044 miles.
Hispano HA-200 Saetas
The HA-200 Saeta (Arrow) was the first Spanish turbojet aircraft. The HA-200 flew its first combat missions in 1974 against the Polisario Front guerillas. This aircraft has a cruising speed of 373 mph, a top speed of 500 mph, and a range of 870 miles.
