Good Morning, This a plea for help. Like many, I have been struggling financially these past two years due to Covid-19. I also live with mild TBI.
I have an art business, Rock Slayer Art, in which I provide paint parties in your home as well as make resin and acrylic art. I haven't thrown a party in over a year due to restrictions.
In NM there is little to nothing when it comes to helping people with TBI. My disability check is too high to qualify for any state or federal help, but too low to live off of. Hence the business.
I have struggled with food security (thank good for foodbanks) and basically making ends meet.
Now however, I have reached a crisis point with a new landlord, bedbugs and a surgery needed to be able to continue with my art. Back in late April, my neighbors noticed that when I sat on my couch, my ass nearly touched the floor. So, the bought me a couch from the Restore for my birthday.
I really liked that couch, however, early June I started noticing bedbug bites on my legs. I showed the landlord the bites and he insisted they were not bedbug bites. I started wasting money on useless traps and powders and spray. I would have about a week of peace and then the bites showed up. I finally caught a juvenile and showed it to my landlord the following month. His reply was "Are you sure that's not a tick?" Needless to say he blew me off. August I was able to catch an adult bedbug. The landlord was doing nothing, so I call an exterminator . They wanted $805 and only offered a 30 day warranty. Definitely, not something I could do. So I threw away my couch and area rug, bought all the necessary items to seal up my bed. And spent $100's on gallons of bedbug spray and silicon powder "guaranteed" to work. However, by this time I no longer had the rent for Sept.
With the moratorium gone now I am facing eviction because my landlord is an idiot as he is still insisting I don't have bedbugs and he's not going to argue with me about it!
In addition, I have calcium crystals forming in my joints. The worst of it is in my left wrist and I am lefthanded. Throwing paint parties would be much easier physically, but not an option at this time. So, I am left with my clocks and other art pieces. It is extremely painful but I plug along slowly.
The help I am asking for is this months rent $650.
The copay for my MRI $400
The copay for the surgery $350
And the copay for the surgeon $50
I have enough materials to make 25 clocks like the one above. They're made from 78 rpm albums. If anyone would like to purchase a clock, they're $50 plus shipping. If I could sell the 25 clocks I could hang on until things get better by next spring (I anticipate another winter shut down, but my governor has taken very good care of our state). Sadly I cannot make them and sell them fast enough to save me from eviction. Each clock takes about 5 days to complete.
So I am asking for help with my rent and Surgery if possible and for those who want clocks I can have them to you before Xmas.
Thank you for your time.

Oh and if anyone in the ABQ area has a couch they don't need, please email me. This camping chair is a right fit for me and my two kitties. 😾😾

Update
Okay, the bug guy told the landlord I did indeed have bedbugs and the place was treated. He had an emergency somewhere where the is limited internet service. However, we came to an understanding and I will be able to make payments on Sept. rent.
Thank you to those who donated and I am still asking for help with my medical co pays. If I am unable to get the MRI at least, we will not be able to tell if the nerve damage in my hands is being caused by neck of my wrists... Thank you and I still have clocks for sale!
