I never expected to ever write a diary, so I hope I haven’t messed this up too badly.
I don’t know if any of you remember the stimulus-snarl I had back in March, the one that had me being told — twice — “prove that you’re really yourself, and maybe we’ll send a check to you a couple of months from now,” but it never got un-snarled. At least, I never saw or heard anything more about that.
Here is the good news: The EBB is covering my home internet for now, and miracle of miracles, I even managed to get rent assistance for the back rent plus rent through October. Amazingly, I was not only (finally) able to get an appointment to apply for that, I actually got to walk into the place that handled it and talk to people face-to-face (well. mask-to-mask), instead of putting papers in a box. I believe that made a difference, since the people there saw me, but I was still expecting them to say "no", and certainly wasn't expecting them to actually want to help.
The rest of the news is not so good. I haven't been able to get utility assistance; that’s a different set of hoops to jump through. While I've been able to stretch enough to be able to keep the power on and pay the back amount down on a payment plan, while also keeping the cats and myself fed and the car running and legal (and large thanks to everyone who made that possible), that stretch has finally, and completely, run out.
Immediate need is $530 for the past due electric and the car insurance payment for August, plus $40-$50 for immediate expenses, such as gas and oil for the car and food, so around $580. LG&E has canceled the payment plan I had with them, and is asking for the remaining back balance. Whether they will let me make a new plan if I can pay them enough, I don't know, but they have disconnected my power. As far as I know, my car insurance has not canceled the plan I have with them, but I do need to pay very soon, or they will cancel my policy.
In addition to that immediate need, I'm thinking around $850 or so for expenses+repairs through September, which may stretch into October. (Park manager is on me to get new back steps for my trailer Or Else, which probably means that someone is riding her about such things, she's normally fairly relaxed about them. I should still have some time on that, but it needs to be done, and I don't know how much it will cost. Slightly drippy kitchen faucet should be fixed, eventually, but that's not an immediate need.) Anyway, looking at a total of around $1430.
