One of the exhibits in the Ohio History Center in Columbus, Ohio features Ohio-made furniture. As American settlers moved into Ohio in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, it was expensive to have furniture shipped from the East. Thus, by 1800, there were many furnituremakers in Ohio.
