Happy 20th Anniversary, Daily Kos
Twenty years of Daily Kos history, rowdy as it’s been, doesn’t compact easily. I’ve only been here for 14 of them (I’ve got to be kidding. No? Yikes.), and I thought I’d try a couple of diaries about the things that stand out in it for me. So far I’ve got four to publish; that may be all, or a couple more may come and knock on the back of my skull and ask to be written. This is the fourth.
Previously:
A VERY Short History of the GBCW and TTFN diaries; An Unofficial Koscar Addendum
The Pie Fight Diaries (A VERY short history of Daily Kos advertising)/ An Unofficial Koscar Addendum
A Daily Kos watershed moment: Isla Vista, and taming the DK Boyz Klub; An Unofficial Koscar Addendum
It’s all very well (and I’m enjoying that part of the Koscars quite thoroughly) to call out individual diaries, series, and groups to showcase the best that people remember, but I was curious. Who in the community, I wondered, had the most diaries published? Staff rules in the numbers, generally — they’re paid to come up, week after week, with readable material, and they do earn their salaries.
So, I went and looked, and was amazed...
Kinda jumps out, doesn’t it?

10,530 diaries over eleven years, or approximately 18 per week, on average. I’m not just impressed, I’m astonished.

This one, I actually checked with the diarist on before I decided to publish it. ;)
Love it! No objections at all. Thank you so much! All I can say is it's an honor to keep the community engaged with the Downballot Races and a huge thank you to both the Daily Kos Community for their years of support. Also, a very special thanks to David Nir, Jeff Singer and the whole Daily Kos Elections team. I credit the DKE for making me my friends and family's go to, fully informed voter for all Election updates.
