The best Birthday present in the world was seeing the noose tighten around Trump and Co’s neck this week. May the fallout ensue!
Mah birthday rolled in (Scorpio baby!) and found me sick as a dog. I blame the GA air, Halloween hijinks, and many other things too numerous to list here. Still, despite feeling a trifle piqued, I was heartened to learn that Trump Co.’s ever-worsening week has hit a few mega skids.
Highlights
- Sick unto death of Trump's lawyer antics, NYC Judge Engoron extended his gag order to include Trump lawyers Chris Kise and Alina Habba, who also went after his principal law clerk, Allison Greenfield, after she handed him a note during the trial. Trump’s legal eagles may be disingenuous tools and horrible lawyers, but they understand court routine and decorum, or at the very least, they should— what is up with these histrionics antics? Well, the performative nonsense may serve a dual purpose—to play to an audience of one so Trump can, in turn, play to his dwindling crowd, corrupt the jury pool, and grift like there is no tomorrow. Tick-tock, Trumpy!
- Ivanka pulled the family favorite Trump card (pun intended) by seeking to halt the NYC fraud trial after an appeal. She claimed that being a mommy was a grueling chore enough not to show up in court. “In her request for a pause of the trial, Ivanka said that her testimony during "the middle of a school week" creates "undue hardship" and not only requested to delay her testimony but to put a halt to the entire trial pending her appeal.” —Meidas Touch Network. L’il Miss Divas shenanigans failed to move the needle or the judge; she lost her appeal and has been ordered to appear in court post haste.
- Today was the final day of the highly anticipated Colorado trial seeking to remove Trump from the ballot due to his participation in the January 6th insurrection. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a group of Republican and unaffiliated voters who felt that Trump’s participation left little breathing room for candidates who were not currently indicted and made a mockery of the political process. Both sides brought experts to dissect the legal meaning of the term “insurrection” and if Trump engaged in one per this definition. Should Trump be tossed off the ballot in Colorado, a domino effect of future actions in several states might result. While I hope the attempt is successful, the same amendment was invoked to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from the GA ballot, and we will see how that went.
Lastly, John Eastman could lose his law license after a California ethics trial. Eastman’s disbarment is not only welcome news for those who love justice but, hopefully, a portent for current Trump lawyers (Habba, I am looking at you, girl!) who don't know how to leave well enough alone.
Yes, indeedy bob, the current news cycle has provided the best birthday presents evah!
