If you haven’t witnessed a hawk hunting its prey, you can get a vicarious experience here.
The patience, acute vision and knowing where to look all played a part in this successful Red-tailed Hawk’s hunt.
You have already seen the patient and spotting of the prey part.
Next comes the action.
The hawk lands on the grassy field and looks around to see if there is any danger.
It then concentrates on what it has on the ground.
One more look to see if all is safe.
Now to see the prize. A nice vole meal ready and waiting.
ALERT: NEXT FEW PHOTOS ARE GRAPHIC. SKIP OVER IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH
The first bite.
The second bite.
The third bite.
The last bite.
All done with its meal, the hawk flies back on the wire to digest the meal and look for the next meal.
