It’s very fortunate for me; since August 26, 2021, I have had five separate occasions to photograph Gray Fox, Urocyon cinereoargenteus (and say that five times fast, heh heh heh). They really are marvelous little creatures. Lots to read about them here.
My series of photos:
August 26, 2021
Up a hillside, Quincy Junction Road
(I was really hoping I would get better shots in the future)
And I certainly did get better shots. For this first set I was only about ten yards away.
September 29, 2021 (Dellinger’s Pond)
This next set the fox is about one hundred yards from me. Camera was on a tripod, fortunately.
June 14, 2022 (Dellinger’s Pond)
September 29, 2022 (Dellinger’s Pond) The fox was on the move, and the dried reeds made focus very difficult; little possibility for good focus, oh well.
Right up until two days ago.
July 29, 2023 (Adjacent to Quincy Junction Road, near the high school and bike path entrance; inside a private property fenced area). 9:20 p.m.; I had my bicycle headlamp on so I could see the animals to frame them in my camera view finder, and then used the flash on the camera to take the snaps.
Open Thread, take it away.
The Daily Bucket is a nature refuge. We amicably discuss animals, weather, climate, soil, plants, waters and note life’s patterns.
We invite you to note what you are seeing around you in your own part of the world, and to share your observations in the comments below.
Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the phenological patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. To have the Daily Bucket in your Activity Stream, visit Backyard Science’s profile page and click on Follow.
