Carroll Shelby (1923-2012) was an automotive designer, racing driver, and entrepreneur. He established Shelby American in 1962 which made high performance vehicles. In 1965, Ford and Shelby American started producing the Shelby GT350 based on the Ford Mustang and in 1967, production started on the GT500. A number of Shelby cars are displayed in the Thunder Dome Car Museum in Enumclaw, Washington.

This car has a 428 cubic inch Police Interceptor engine. In 1968, Ford took over the production of the High Performance Shelby Mustang line and Carroll Shelby had less influence on the models.

2022 Ford Shelby GT 500 Heritage Edition
This car sold new for $112,385. The heritage edition pays homage to the original 1967 Shelby GT 500. It has a 5.2 liter supercharged V8 engine.
