Morning Open Thread is a daily, copyrighted post from a host of editors and guest writers. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum.
We are welcoming new writers to join us. We would sure like to have your participation. Let officebss, PCarey or me know (via Dkos mail) if you’d like to have your work posted. Thank you.
I had a different diary written and posted for today. Then I had a change of heart. I figured you all might miss my exploits at work. Since hay seed and I are taking a sabbatical, I can show this simple repair of my wheelbarrow to keep you believing, “If the Captain can do it, I can do that too.”
.
I have a series of photos to show the alpha and omega of the project.
Looking into the bowl and you see the problem.
A former repair showing the construction wire, carriage bolts and bondo needed for the next repair.
Removal of the frame to expose the bottom.
New screen cut and mounted under the frame.
Bolts holding the screen onto the bowl, and retard new cracks from forming.
Two-part Epoxy is a 50 / 50 mix for the bolt heads (before Bondo is applied).
Bondo is a product that requires a “filler” that reacts to a “hardener”. The ratio of hardener to filler is 1 to 100. The challenge being there is less than 4 minutes to mix and apply the material before it becomes a solid mass.
Good luck to all of that have tried that.
Showing Bondo applied.
Since the “Big Box” stores don’t sell the bucket of wheelbarrows separately, I will have to repair the barrow of my tool until the handles disintegrate. That will be a long time coming.
.
That’s all I have for now. It’s your turn to add to the mix. Enjoy the morning.
