Happy New Year! I hope everyone is starting the year off on good footing and, if not I hope this year will start you on an upward trajectory.
I was reminded recently that the saying “may you live in interesting times” is actually a curse. We have been living in “interesting times” since Trump became a political tourist for the presidency in 2015. I’m hopeful the “interesting times” will end this year with his conviction on at least one of the many felony counts he faces.
Some important things are happening in the next week in his cases. As I write this, Trump’s reply to the DC Court of Appeals is due (1/2/24). The oral arguments are scheduled for next Tuesday. The dream scenario would be the Court issuing their ruling promptly and lifting the stay on Judge Chukan’s trial court so it can move forward. And that SCOTUS will deny cert when the case is predictably appealed there. I do not see Trump’s “I am king” motion passing the laugh test with either court. And… if they do agree with him, then can’t Biden just start acting like a king himself by jailing Trump and cancelling the elections? The sentence I just typed shows how ridiculous Trump’s absolute immunity motion is.
Besides amicus brief authored by Barbara Comstock, Judge Michael Luttig and others, accepted earlier by the Court, here’s another accepted today that is truly amazing:
So, we’ll see what happens. But I agree with Joyce Vance White in her opinion piece here. The courts need to act quickly. This is not the time for the slow speed they usually move at which only benefits Trump… who loves delays.
Now onto other things. It’s now 2024 and the election year has begun. It is our DUTY as Democrats to become megaphones for the Biden Administration when they begin their campaign. They have been touting their accomplishments all along, unfortunately the mainstream media chooses mostly to ignore their messaging and then claim the Democrats have terrible messaging. So, I guess it’s up to us!
Here’s one of them:
As of yesterday, January 1st, more people are now eligible for the $35 cap on insulin because more companies are joining in on plan that was accepted by the largest pharma outfits. This is HUGE. I also think this will start trickling down to other medications.
Let’s follow the example of this Twitter account (yes… I will never call it “X”)… spread the news of the accomplishments far and wide and hopefully the mainstream media will get off the horse race BS… nah, who am I kidding… they’ll stay on the horse race BS. But that doesn’t mean we have to.
Let’s work hard and win this thing. And kick Trump into the dustbin of history.
Forgive the brevity of this post as I have been battling the “crud” since last Thursday that has been working it’s way through my family. Stay healthy!
Let’s chat...
