Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan (D?) hasn’t said whether he’ll run for mayor again, his term ends in 2026. There are rumors he’s going to run for governor, in which case he’d be one of the worst options to succeed Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Michigan). No need to worry about his running for president, though.
And who’d follow Duggan as mayor of this city? Maybe Councilwoman Gabriela Santiago-Romero (also D?), her term on the City Council ends in 2026 as well. As the first Latina mayor of this city, she’d do squat for the economic development of women other than herself and just as much for the economic development of Latinos other than herself. Well, to be fair, her sycophants might get something.
I thought I’d do my part to help these fine politicians come up with re-election slogans. It’s never too early to start thinking about re-election.
- “Don’t sour my gravy train with your stupid problems.”
- “Your stack of dollar bills must be this high for me to care about your problems.” Like a 6-foot stack of $100 bills.
- “I have a proven track record of results. For myself.”
- “You should be happy for my success regardless of what happens to you.”
- “You’ve got problems? Go f*** yourself.”
Glad to help.
And here’s one just for Gabriela Santiago-Romero:
- “You should vote for me just because I’m part of whatever disadvantaged group I happen to be talking to. But don’t expect any results for your disadvantaged group.”
