There’s a reason why we can’t sit down and have a reasonable dinner or even a rational conversation with our relatives. They have been strategically, and systematically lied to by Fox News, OAN, Newsmax and the dark corners of the internet. They have been fed a series of delusions, they have been gaslight, and there’s no better example than this segment of Fox News following Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt on his “really big” rally in New Jersey this weekend.
Trump claims that he’s going to “Win the State of New Jersey, also Minnesota and Virginia. And well. All of ‘em.”
In the latest polls from FiveThirtyEight they show Kennedy Defeating Trump by 2 points in a head-to-head matchup, and Biden Defeating Kennedy by 7 points.
So I have no idea what Trump is talking about.
Minnesota has Trump by +3 and Virginia has Biden by +4. So um, what?
Leavitt claims that Trump had 100,000 rally goers in New Jersey and that it was…
The Largest Political Rally ever, in the Blue State.
They go on to talk about how ridiculous it would be for Biden to get this large a crowd in Alabama. Right. Ok, this is what 100,000 people looks like where as the title marked square is about how many people showed up for Trump.
Roger Stone and other MAGAs tried to post a picture from Rod Stewart Concert in Rio from 30 years ago and pass it off as Trump’s rally in New Jersey
So that’s a lie.
Then there’s all the lies that Trump stated during the rally — which took a few minutes for Daniel Dale to go over because there were so many.
Trump’s spokesperson prattles on.
There’s a tremendous shift taking place. People in Democrat Run cities are their policies have made their lives more expensive, less safe,
Here’s a recent chart of how prices changed from the previous year from Trump’s time in office and Bidens.
Joe Biden went into office two days after the date marked on this chart. Prices dramatically rising happened before his time - on Trump’s watch. Last year inflation was 9% and this year it has dropped down as low as 2.8%.
Note: I received a community note on this graph:
This isn't inflation; it's the Fed's M2 metric of available money supply. The spike reflects COVID relief funds. (Presented as % change over 12 months, the later Biden-era $$ increases show as positive but smaller than the COVID-induced spike.
So that’s different. But it is still true that inflation has dramatically dropped under Biden.
Trump left office with the economy in free fall.
Further, the one main accomplishment of the Trump Administration was the installation of $Trillion tax cuts for the rich. He has promised if he’s re-elected to extend and expand these which has produced predictions that the deficit will again be impacted by $Trillions.
The new CBO report—sought by U.S. Senate Budget Committee Chair Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.)—says continuing the income, business, and estate tax cuts will now cost $4.6 trillion through 2034.
Responding in a statement Wednesday, the senators cited an Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) estimate that "extending the Trump tax cuts would create a $112.6 billion windfall for the top 5% of income earners in the first year alone."
They also slammed their GOP colleagues, who Whitehouse said "are awfully eager to shield their megadonors from paying taxes."
He recalled that just last year, "Republicans held our entire economy hostage," refusing to raise the debt ceiling and risking the first-ever U.S. default, because they didn't want the Internal Revenue Service to get more funding to "go after wealthy tax cheats."
"Remember the Trump tax scam cutting taxes for billionaires and big corporations," Whitehouse continued. "Now they're set on extending those tax cuts, even though it would blow up the deficit. The Trump tax cuts were a gift to the ultrarich and a rotten deal for American families and small businesses. With their impending expiration, we have a chance to undo the damage, fix our corrupted tax code, and have big corporations and the ultrawealthy begin to pay their fair share."
Biden has promised to let these tax cuts expire - doing that alone is likely to cut the deficit and place it on a track to balance and surpluses like those we had at the end of Clinton’s two terms.
Crime is not “rampant” in Democrat-run cities, not when Red States cities have a far higher murder and gun death rate.
-
The murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Donald Trump has exceeded the murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Joe Biden in every year from 2000 to 2020.
-
Over this 21-year span, this Red State murder gap has steadily widened from a low of 9% more per capita red state murders in 2003 and 2004 to 44% more per capita red state murders in 2019, before settling back to 43% in 2020.
-
Altogether, the per capita Red State murder rate was 23% higher than the Blue State murder rate when all 21 years were combined.
-
If Blue State murder rates were as high as Red State murder rates, Biden-voting states would have suffered over 45,000 more murders between 2000 and 2020.
-
Even when murders in the largest cities in red states are removed, overall murder rates in Trump-voting states were 12% higher than Biden-voting states across this 21-year period and were higher in 18 of the 21 years observed.
More from Fox.
President Trump is building the greatest political movement in history, we are witnessing that. And Joe Biden’s campaign should be terrified. Because Blue states like Jersey [Not], and Minnesota are in place. We are on offense.
This is an image from a Barack Obama rally in St. Louis.
The”Greatest Political Movement in History?” I doubt that.
Fox continued.
Scenes like this are why Democrats are afraid of Trump. Because nobody on their side could draw a crowd like this [Obama could!] The old adage is that campaigns that are having fun are usually the winning campaigns.
Nobody says that.
It’s like a concert. It’s like an event. There’s so much spirit and love from the people at these rallies. They come from all walks of life.
Yeah, the White walks of life.
There were mom’s with their babies there celebrating mother’s day with thier famiies. We saw law enforcement, of course. When we driving into the rally the city of Wildwood Fire Department were standing on the side, saluting the President outside the Fire Dept. Just so many moments that you would never see for Joe Biden’s campaign.
Yeah, you would never see Joe Biden with police.
And you’d never see Joe Biden with the Fire Department.
Or Joe Biden with a Baby.
So sure, that would never happen.
He suffles onto stage, talks for 15 minutes and is heckled by angry people.
Well, at least people aren’t walking out while he’s talking.
President Trump’s message of bring unity to this country through success is inspiring. It’s hopeful and people need that right now.
”Unity?” Who’s he unifying -the white people with the off-white people?
Maybe he means to bring together the White people with the Fictional Serial-Killer demographic.
This is bizarre even by Trump standards. Now in Wildwood, Trump was lauding fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter. Trump: "Silence of the Lambs. Has anyone ever seen The Silence of the Lambs? The late, great Hannibal Lecter is a wonderful man."
Trump claims “there's never been a time [with jobs] better than we had prior to COVID” (There are more Americans with jobs now than before COVID)
During the rally Trump brought up Andrew Bergum to speak.
Bergum: There is a longstanding American principle, President Trump would never do this, we don’t negotiate with terrorists
Yeah ok, except that one time.
He literally invited the Taliban to Camp David and conspired with far-right militias to storm the Capitol armed with bats, knives, rebar, flagpoles, bear mace, and police shields and batons taken by force in the most deadly terrorist attack since 9/11 that nearly ended democracy.
Fox Continues.
Campos-Duffy: Moms have been really hurt by this economy, Families have been really hurt. Trump is tying to point that out. [Without admitting that he’s the one that did it.] Talk to us about that.
A: Well, first of all Joe Biden’s campaign can’t define what a woman is. [Oh, that old knee-slapper] And they like to call us “birthing people” instead of mothers, which is what we are. What’s worse than that are his policies which have really hurt working people. [As oppose to Trump’s policies which really helped the Super Rich!] He’s created the worse inflation crisis in a generation. [No, Trump did - Biden has fixed largely that problem with the Inflation Reduction Act.] The cost of diapers and formula, Food, Rent, Gasoline. Skyrocketing becuse of Joe Biden’s economic policies. [More 50% of which is because of corporate price gouging, while the GOP opposed a windfall profits tax]
And his immigration policies which have made the lives of women and families more dangerous in rural American and especially in Democrat-run cities. You look at his open border, he’s allowed an invasion of illegal criminals into this country. What has happened to Laken Riley in Georgia or Ruby Garcia in Michigan. Natty Hines the 3-year-old who was killed by an illegal immigrant drunk driver.
President Trump has met with Laken Riley’s mother, he’s met with Natty Hines mother. It’s every mother’s worse nightmare to lose your child to an illegal who shouldn’t be in this country. President Biden has turned that nightmare into a reality and President Trump promises safety for moms and for working families. And that’s why were seeing a shift in polling with women who realize there’s only one option on the ballot that’s going to make the lives of their chidren safer and better and that’s President Trump.
First off, the Border is “Not open.”
Biden has blocked entry for migrants under Title 42 and other measures and has deported or expelled as many as 6 Million people. over the last 3 years. Far more than were expelled or deported by Trump. There have been over 8 Million “encounters” at the border but only 2.3 Million - largely including families and children — have been allowed to go through the deportation and asylum process.
In practice, Title 42 was used primarily for nationals of Mexico and Central America. Between January and May, just 34 percent of Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans encountered by the U.S. Border Patrol between ports of entry were subject to Title 42, compared to 68 percent of Mexicans and Central Americans. While Title 42 was in effect from March 2020 to May 2023, the Border Patrol carried out 2.8 million expulsions.
Millions of other expulsions were also performed for single adults who didn’t enter with children or were not part of a family unit.
So, I’m going to point out the same thing that people say to me when I talk about all of the unarmed black men who are killed by police (even though police kill about 2,000 people per year - with Trump’s blessing) and that is — These are only isolated incidents.
Laken Riley and Natty Hines are tragic situations, but they are not any kind of example of how the average migrant behaves. They are outliers and exceptions. Generally, the rate of crime committed by migrants is far less than that committed by citizens.
Opponents of immigration often argue that immigrants drive up crime rates. But newly released research from Stanford economist Ran Abramitzky and his co-authors finds that hasn’t been the case in America for the last 140 years.
The study
reveals that first-generation immigrants have not been more likely to be imprisoned than people born in the United States since 1880.
Today, immigrants are 30 percent less likely to be incarcerated than are U.S.-born individuals who are white, the study finds. And when the analysis is expanded to include Black Americans — whose prison rates are higher than the general population — the likelihood of an immigrant being incarcerated is 60 percent lower than of people born in the United States.
While other research has also debunked claims that immigration leads to more crime, this study of incarceration rates provides the broadest historical look at the relationship between immigration and crime across the country and over time, says author Abramitzky. Abramitzky is the Stanford Federal Credit Union Professor of Economics and senior associate dean of social sciences in the School of Humanities and Sciences, as well as a senior fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR).
So Trump’s spokesperson here is ginning up hatred and fear of migrants that is totally unfounded and unjustified. She’s fearmongering moms and children over “illegals.”
This is a common right-wing tactic. For example, the "migrants who fought with police” were actually minding their own business and left when asked until the police attacked them.
Joseph Kenny, the NYPD chief of detectives, had told reporters that a group of men were blocking the sidewalk on 42nd Street, prompting the officers to walk over to get them to move. Kenny said that one of the men, Yohenry Brito, refused to move, sparking the altercation.
“Everybody disperses except for Mr. Brito. He turned around and got confrontational with the police officers. He refused the lawful order. They attempted to place him under arrest, and the melee begins with the officers trying to take Mr. Brito into custody, and the next thing you know they’re being attacked by 13 other people,” he said.
But in the body-worn-camera footage, as reported by The City, officers can be seen approaching a group of men who are standing off to the side, not blocking the flow of pedestrian traffic. The officers can be heard shouting, “Vamos” and “Go to West Four One,” meaning they should move to West 41st Street. One officer approaches Brito, who is wearing a bright-yellow jacket, telling him to move. He can be heard saying “Don’t touch me” in Spanish.
As Brito appears to walk away, he mocks one of the officers, saying he looks like “Ugly Betty,” a reference to the American TV comedy that was based on a Colombian telenovela. Hell Gate notes that one of the officers wore thick-rimmed glasses like the main character of the show.
An officer then pushes Brito up against a nearby building, starting a struggle, and both of them fall to the ground. When the second officer moves to assist, a group of bystanders gets involved and starts to strike the officers and aid Brito.
In the days following the initial report, Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams both called for the perpetrators to be deported for their role in the attack. And Republican leaders held a press conference in Times Square following the incident, suggesting that the city’s sanctuary-city status and policy are to blame. So far, the mayor and governor haven’t commented on the questions raised by the new footage.
So it’s not the case that these migrants just randomly attacked police without provocation - the police attacked one of them — and they responded in his defense.
And yes, it is legal to defend yourself against police and resist an unlawful arrest.
Generally speaking, people don't have the right to resist arrest. In many states, this rule applies whether the arrest was lawful or unlawful. The rationale behind prohibiting people from resisting arrests (even for illegal arrests) is that resistance can escalate the situation and make it dangerous for the arrestee, officers, and bystanders. In most instances, the matter of an illegal arrest can be better and more safely handled in the courtroom than on the streets.
However, if an officer uses excessive force that could result in great bodily harm or death, a person can defend themself against such harm. Here, serious bodily harm or loss of life cannot be repaired in the courtroom. And many states equate the person's actions to self-defense rather than resisting.
There was no reason for them to attack Mr Brito - even if he did personally insult the officers, that’s not a crime. Throwing him on the ground because he made you angry is not. legal. They had no grounds or probable cause for an arrest.
Even the supposedly “Violent Migrant” who was taken down by the Guardian Angels in Times Square was a hoax. He wasn’t violent, and he wasn’t a migrant - he was from the Bronx.
This is blatant racism. It’s blatant Nazism. These people are Brown Shirts. This is bullshit.
The fact is that the GOP and Trump supporters are not driven by “Unity” or “Love” — they’re driven by Hate and Fear. Scaring people about the economy when it’s honestly doing better now with better GDP, lower unemployment, higher wages and a decreasing deficit. Scaring people with the false specter of violent “Democrat-Run Cities” and “Dangerous Illegals” is a load of bullshit.
Crime in the U.S. is generally down.
New FBI data confirms previous indications that crime in the U.S. declined significantly in 2023, continuing a post-pandemic trend and belying widespread perceptions that crime is rising.
“It suggests that when we get the final data in October, we will have seen likely the largest one-year decline in murder that has ever been recorded,” said Jeff Asher, a former CIA analyst who now studies crime trends.
There is no good reason to be increasingly afraid of crime in “Democrat-run cities” or by migrants. But that is exactly the paranoia that Fox continues to stoke. Those are the lies they continue to tell.
That’s how they form “unity” — by stoking fear, loathing and hate.
Also, they're lying about Trump's criminal cases as well.
If you watch Fox, and you don’t have any independent evidence - from literally anywhere — you’re going to be led down a primrose path of lies and delusion. And you won’t listen to anything else anyone tries to tell you.
