Don’t call it a comeback…
I stepped away from campaigning for a bit after 2020, but I assure you, I wasn’t sitting around, being lazy.
After giving birth to my second child, 6 weeks later becoming a widow, and suffering a massive “widowmaker” heart attack- I have continued to fight for democracy in any way I can, having served as the Vice President of the Glades County Democratic Executive Committee, the President of the Glades County Democratic Environmental Caucus, the Glades County State Committee Woman, and the VP1 of the Hendry County Democratic Women’s Club, as well as teaching US Citizenship Classes at the local Goodwill Career Center in LaBelle.
And NOW, I am ready to run for FL House of Representatives AGAIN!
Here’s a brief, updated bio:
A former firefighter and Alligator wrestler turned Environmental Educator, Danika Fornear is a determined and hardworking widowed mother of two, a true patriot with a wealth of knowledge and experience in all things Florida.
Born on MacDill Airforce in Tampa to her father; an Air Force Captain and Vietnam Veteran, whose own father served our great country in World War Il as a Navy SeaBee, has given Fornear a respect and appreciation for the sacrifices made by the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces.
Her mother; a Thailand born daughter of a successful rice farming family, instilling a passion for rural life and working off the land, a love that to this day sees practical application in Fornear’s small but sustainable dairy farm in Glades county.
As a military child Fornear has been afforded the opportunity of traveling the world and given the unique perspective that comes from experiencing many different cultures and their ways of life, a perspective she has applied her entire life.
She became an alligator wrestler just after graduating High school, and went on to have an extensive career as a Conservation Naturalist; rescuing and rehabilitating Florida wildlife, while teaching environmental education programs to every walk of life that was willing to listen. At the age of just twenty five, she became the Executive Director of the Shell Factory Nature Park, where she was in charge of designing, building and opening the well-known SWFL attraction.
She also spent countless nights and weekends training and working tirelessly, going from rookie to engineer, at her local fire department, and has worked for many years as a journalist for the Caloosa Belle, Lake Okeechobee News, and Immokalee Bulletin, now doing freelance work covering South and Central Florida’s communities, their stories and the injustices they face, such as the battle for the right to clean water.
Fornear and her family have called Florida their home for more than 25 years, during which time she has remained dedicated to improving the lives of Floridians. With a focus on practical solutions and community empowerment, she is ready to tackle the challenges facing our state.
Your support will help send her to Tallahassee to work for our community, and enact viable solutions for the problems we all face here in Florida. Please donate HERE:https://secure.actblue.com/donate/danikafornearforhouse83
