Two headlines show grass roots activism making a difference from Florida to Ohio:
Biden moves within striking distance of Trump in Florida, poll shows
Dems make shocking 20 pt. gain in Ohio Special
Trump must win Florida and now his lead there is shrinking. One reason for this is local activism in every Congressional and State Legislative District, including the efforts of the140 Blue Florida, which raised enough to fund the $1,781 filing fee for candidates it recruited for the Florida State Legislature. There will be Democratic candidates on the ballot in nearly all FL State Senate and House districts. And the result in Ohio is great news for Sherrod Brown.
Thank you!
Daily Kos members and others contributed enough to get us over the top. Without this grassroots effort, there would have been forty or more elections with no Democratic candidate. Two years ago, there were fifty-three Florida legislative districts where Republicans ran unopposed. Is it any surprise Dems lost the governorship by 19 points, when Biden lost by only three points in 2020 (when there were candidates for nearly every legislative seat)?
We know Daily Kos members were key contributors because donations to the 140 Blue Florida ActBlue page spiked on the days stories by Bethesda 1971 on this were published and on the Trending list:
Margie Stein and Dr. Fergie Reid, Jr. led this incredible effort, both recruiting candidates and raising funds, without any financial or other assistance from the Florida Democratic Party. And now, Margie tells us the Democratic Party has been referring its candidates to Margie for financial assistance. and we are still here to help.*
Today is the last day contributions will make a difference, so we’re asking for additional contributions to fund these candidates. Please consider making another donation to ensure Democrats have candidates in every district to:
*Note: In a zoom call with Florida Democrats Monday, a Democratic Party official took credit for having a candidate in every district, only mentioning unnamed “affiliated groups” in an aside, and giving no credit to 140 Blue Florida.
This reminds me of the Republicans who voted against IRA projects and then took credit for them at the ribbon cutting. It’s unworthy of Democrats.
