It didn’t take long for late night TV hosts to mock Donald Trump for getting the name of his former White House physician wrong while boasting about his performance on a screening test intended to assess mild cognitive impairment or early dementia.
Ahead of his scheduled June 7 debate on CNN with President Joe Biden, Trump insisted at a campaign even in Milwaukee that Biden should take a cognitive test like the one he claimed to have aced.
And then as NBC News reported, Trump said”
"I took a cognitive test, and I aced it. Doc Ronny — Doc Ronny Johnson," Trump said, confusing the name of his White House physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, now a member of the House. "Does everyone know Ronny Johnson, congressman from Texas? He was the White House doctor.”
And The New York Times compiled some of the jokes made at Trump’s expense for once again getting names mixed up in one of his rambling, incoherent campaign speeches.
— Jon Stewart: “The sad thing is under MAGA law, his name is now Ronny Johnson.”
— Jimmy Kimmel: “It’s not Ronny Johnson — it’s Jackson. If that was another cognitive test, you failed it, OK?”
— Seth Meyers: “Bragging about acing a cognitive test while forgetting the name of the doctor who gave it to you is like writing on a résumé that you speak three languages and misspelling the word ‘languages.’”
— Stephen Colbert [Imitating Trump] : “I love Ronny Johnson. Doc Ronny — Doc Ronny Johnson. He gave me the test, then I went home to my beautiful wife, Malaria and my two hideous sons, Urkel and Carl’s Jr.”
But the most devastating cut of all came when Colbert put out a song parody “That’s Not His Name,” based on the catchy 2008 hit, “That’s Not My Name” by the British indie pop duo, The Ting Tings.
And the spoof goes interspersing Trump’s words with new lyrics.
”That’s not his name. (Trump: Ronny Johnson). That’s not his name. (Trump: Ronny Johnson). That’s a bad brain. (Trump: I’m really smart). He says that Joe’s flawed, then made this faux pass. It’s not the first time he’s botched a name.”
And that leads into clips of Trump stumbling over the names of Barack Obama, John Bolton Benjamin Netanyahu, and Apple’s Tim Cook — interspersed with the chorus “That’s not his name.”
And then the parody really hits home: “This man’s not sane. It will make me puke. If we give the nukes to this fool after all that we’ve heard.”
And then we get clips of Trump mangling different words: “Tanzania,” “Diversary,” “Pivotable,” Stanctuary,” with a chorus of “That’s not a word.”
Here’s the full clip:
And for comparison’s sake, here is the official video of The Ting Tings — Katie White and Jules De Martino singing “That’s Not My Name.”
This song parody hits Trump where it hurts most and should be used by the Biden campaign and go viral.
