The Five R’s of the Resistance:
First-Sunday-of-the-month reminder:
- Resist: Protest on the streets, call senators and representatives, etc.
- Rebel: Run for office, GOTV (Get Out The Vote), support a progressive.
- Revolt: Change the laws, change the culture, build your communities.
- Rely: Trust that millions of others are fighting the good fight.
- Rest: Take care of yourself, we are in this for the long term.
WineRev’s Good and Goofy Notes
Watch for WineRev’s G&G notes in the comments to see what others went through, struggled with, and surmounted in the past. His G&G comments are mini Good News Roundups. You can find all his comments here, even today’s, once he posts it. Tech Tip: You can search for >>> in Roundups to quickly find his comments.
WineRev, from the Friday Good News Roundup:
The morning after 34 became a magic number:
Good morning Chloris and the first 34 Gnusies reading the Good News Round Up! 34 counts, huh? And………..34 verdicts, huh? Gnusies arriving at the Gnuville Breakfast Brunch will note the staff has arranged to plant 34 stepping stones from the gate in the white picket fence to the front porch of the Brunch. There are little signs noting the Front Porch under the columns is 34 steps wide.
As you and the other Gnusies arrive for the Brunch, the coffee, tea and mocha-cocoa Hot Breakfast Bevs are featuring a total of 34 different varieties to order those. (The Mimosa Bar was going to offer 34 flavors of icy eye-openers, but after the first 3.4, no one cared about any more flavors.) The 34 Breakfast Items are being served up in the “34 Lounge” where the feet are up, the Extrovert Long Tables are sounding and re-sounding with back slaps, high 5s, and grins galore, while the Introvert Cozy booths have murmurs of giggled delight rising in pairs and trios. Let the pixels hum, the screens glow with delight and news, and the reading, the recs, the comments, the asks, the answers, the sidelines and the chuckles are all here for your Friday Round Up. Thank you Chloris, for singing out at just the right spot in the Alps that makes for reinforcing resonance that carries the Good News from your flying fingers to all of us for this Friday! Yay, and thanks!
Science
Please share good science news with us! (Especially JSWT, health, environment.)
A good place to look for science news if you are waiting for the Sunday Roundup is the archive of Overnight News Digest. On Saturdays, the OND always focuses on science, though not all of it is devoted to what I would call Good Science News.
Need more good news?
… arhpdx posted a list of good news sites toward the top of a Roundup, or you can find that same list in my comment: Good News Sources. Thank you, arhpdx and Mokurai!

Our map of Gnuville: 870 of us have shared our global locations!
To leave your mark, please Reply in the comments to tljdk or the map-building comment. Please indicate only your general location, NOT street number and street. (Please persist, we are volunteers.)

You can use the map’s zoom arrows to resize the view and focus on your pin to find neighbors. Please note that the Google Map, though convenient to operate, is visually inaccurate because, among other issues, it enlarges North America and shrinks Africa [Maps present a distorted view of the world by kos].

Nanny Ogg posts Evening Shade diaries at 7:30 p.m. ET every day. After a long day, Gnusies meet in the evening shade and continue sharing Good News, good community, good actions, and many cats. Find most Evening Shades on the Trending List.
Evening Shade Update: Nanny Ogg has taken over for hpg and is gradually transforming the Evening Shade with her aides-de-Shade. As you may know, we have not heard from hpg for 2 full months (hpg, we wish you well!). First to go was all capital letters in the Evening Shade diary titles.
Now Nanny Ogg is working on the top images. Last night she wrote “Evening, Shade Seekers and Happy June! I mentioned this the other night, but I'm trying out different graphics as we move closer to election day. Let me know your thoughts or suggestions in the comments. And if you've got one of your own to recommend, let me know.”
Image: I gave this image of an eagle the following description in the Daily Kos Image Library: “Meme: Image: A blue wave becomes an eagle's head on a dark background. Text: "Create the Blue Tsunami - Vote" This image is a gif with moving water, but it is static when used as a top image in a Daily Kos diary.” (Incidentally, I see no rollover here over this gif.)
For more information about the Good News group, please see our detailed Welcoming comment, one of the first comments in our morning diaries.

Action Steps from Gnusies
Six of our Good News writers regularly post a panoply of fantastic action steps in their Good News Roundups. If you don’t see a way to become active that suits your personality, your funds, or your time, please review their most recent diaries for many different options to volunteer and/or donate:
On Daily Kos:
Looking at you, listening for your comment. On the horn of a lemma?
… Say Something
We welcome comments in Roundups every day regarding:
- National or local Good News.
- Links, stories, music, videos, quotes, tweets. (No tweets or images of the saffron chlamidiot, please.)
- Your resistance activity.
In my Sunday smorgasbord Roundups, I especially welcome the following types of comments:
- Who won YOUR week?
- Questions about Daily Kos tech issues or our map.
- Good News Roundups and you.
- How are you resisting?
- How are you supporting Democratic candidates?
- Please let’s stick to Good News today, no mews or databases.

A Little Bit About Me
I figured out over the past few weeks that in certain circumstances I can avoid turning on our air conditioner, which we must have due to my wife’s breathing issues. I close the windows and curtains on the south side of our house, and I run the house fan, which brings up cool dehumidified air from the basement. We use a couple of small vortex fans to move air in our main room. By circulating cool dry air, we have been able to avoid running the air conditioner at all on 3 days that in the past would have required air conditioning. I save the water from the dehumidifier and re-use that water around the house.
I am a productivity wizard and mentor. I’ve been obsessed with recording my thoughts quickly since before I learned to touch type when I was 11 years old. (More next week.)
My goal is to empower Democrats to become more productive in their writing on PCs. Today I started a weekly column, PC Productivity, above. Please see that section and stay tuned.
On certain Sundays, I am too busy with the caregiving and the life that I cannot respond to every comment. Last week, I was unable to even Recommend all the comments, which I usually do achieve. However, I always read all the comments. Gnusies, thank you for commenting last week! ❤
Our Roundup is almost open!
Thank you for fighting for truth and justice with all us Gnusies! 40% of our Readers don’t visit every day, 50% of us do, and 10% are here for the first time! We all do what we can. For 5 years, we’ve shared positive news, laughed, organized, resisted, rebelled, revolted without being revolting, relied, rested, mentored, created, crossed rivers, chewed our cud, puffed methane out both ends, and laughed. Here’s looking at you, kid, and standing upwind! Beginners, you are cordially invited to comment!
As always, please share more Good News than I can find or provide.
This is a group diary, and by my power I declare this Good Gnus Salo(o)n open! Let the good-news sharing and community building begin!
Power with, not power over ❤️ ✊ ❤️
