Despite the Attorney General and the Secretary of State doing everything they could to stymie Montana CI-128, a ballot initiative for adding unequivocal reproductive rights to the constitution, Montanans from every legislative district, and I believe every county, added their signatures to a record-breaking 117,000 signatures handed in by the deadline yesterday, Friday, June 21. Somewhere just over 60,000 valid signatures are what is required. The effort crossed party lines and included a heck of a lot of men, but most of the signers are a lot more quiet about it than the people who were protesting against them and screaming “baby killers!” and taking their photographs at signature gathering spots in Missoula. So my guess is, this result has the loud mouths completely confused right now. They didn’t see it coming because they think their loudness means they are in the majority.
