Hi everyone,
My name is Amy Trask and I am a mom and passionate public servant. I work for Harvard Safra Center for Ethics as a Landscape Analyst and have a background in conflict resolution, de-escalation, and conversations across differences.
I was the first Democrat to throw my hat in the ring for this election because I was worried about the future my kids were inheriting: loss of autonomy, breakdown in our education system, the eradication (or, attempted eradication) of equal rights, gun violence, unaffordable living...to name a few.
Since then, I was invited to speak in DC at the Bipartisan Policy Center, have presented research on criminal justice reform, I’ve spoken at countless School Board meetings, have been appointed to the District Advisory Council, spoke in Tallahassee on behalf of Home rule, protested the six-week abortion ban in Orlando, have been to National Women’s Liberation, Planned Parenthood, and Yes on 4 meetings, worked with Pen America on book challenges and academic freedom, presented my report on civil disagreement programs across the country at Harvard University, attended multiple Sierra Club meetings, and have supported Equality Florida across the board. I’m the only candidate to do any of these things. I wanted to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
I wanted to tell them that I did something about it. I wanted to show them that representation by someone who has been impacted by the draconian legislation being pushed CAN run-and win- to make effective change. I wanted to make a difference and bring real, sustainable, effective change to Florida, and to this district.
My Primary opponent is a career politician, whose girlfriend works for the FDP, and has shown the same kinds of politics we’re used to; I want to show that we can do politics differently, and that everyday people can run for office and win.
I’m fighting for equity, for equality, for progress.
If you’re able, please considering joining our grassroots movement or make a contribution; we’re stronger together, and together, we can flip this seat to bring real change.
