I agree with the article at the top of DailyKos, "Biden Won the Debate... Here's Why," but I wanted to elaborate more on a plan for moving forward and changing the narrative.
Last night was a train wreck, but there is an easy way to make lemonade from the lemons we were given.
TFG didn't answer one question last night and did nothing but lie and use his rally talking points. This gave a great opportunity for anyone who cares about democracy or the rights Americans will lose under Project 2025 to repeat the phrase, "TFG doesn't have answers to help the American people," all he does is S talks America. This simple yet powerful phrase can be the opening to talk about how bad TFG was four years ago or talk about all of Biden's accomplishments. It also opens the door for what Biden still wants to do to help the American people, assuming he has a democratic house and Senate to work with.
I'll admit it. Last night caused an optics problem. Biden was sick, so it allowed TFG to command the stage, but his commanding the stage does not help the American people solve our problems. Strong and wrong doesn't help the American people, but Biden and the Democrats have answers to solve the problems American families are still having. "TFG doesn't have answers, we do!”
Everything from now on should be "the TFG has no answers" or "the GOP has no answers" to help the American people, so they do nothing but lie. It's short, can fit on a bumper sticker, and opens the door to go any direction the conversation takes.
The second part is that as soon as Biden is healthy, hopefully, Sunday, he needs to do a primetime press conference to discuss the road ahead and if he will drop out. To me, the answer is no; he cannot drop out. Sadly, I don't see how Kamala can win in this racist and masochist landscape we have, so it's still the greatest president in my lifetime's job. At this press conference, Biden can continue the message that TFG doesn't have any answers to help the American people. Biden can then lay out what he did and plans on doing in his next four years with a democratic house and Senate.
He then needs to do a media blitz, including African-American radio, Progressive talk shows, and more traditional media outlets, to let the American people see that he was not the person they had seen during the debate. Change the narrative today and show that he was sick before the 4th of July. We can't let that debate define him.
"The TFG has no answers."
"The GOP has no answers."
