By now we have all seen videos of the daily exploits of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. No need to go into all its technical attributes here. By all accounts the Bradley has proven to be a battlefield “super star” in Ukraine. We have seen videos of the Bradley taking on the best of Russian armor and lighting them up in amazing show of power and Ukrainian derring-do.
And when hit by the Russians, the Bradley, in most cases, somehow enables those on-board to survive and escape to safety … to be likely rescued by another Bradley. It is truly heartening to see these machines, thousands of which are in storage and no longer being actively used by the U.S. military, now doing so much good and saving Ukrainian lives. Everyday brings tales of how this redoubtable piece of American engineering goes into a “non-permissive environment” and saves Ukrainian lives.
As the great philosopher of the Shire(“Lord of the Rings”), Samwise Gamgee once said … “there's some good in this world, Mr Frodo... And it's worth fighting for.” I would like to believe that we, Americans, collectively agree with Sam. So why don’t we do as Sam also said to his master … “ What are you waiting for? Just let it go!". Let’s let go of all those Bradleys we have in storage. Send the Ukrainians all the Bradleys they can use … for the sake of the good in this world.
I believe my fellow Missourian, General Omar Bradley, for whom this awesome machine is named, would agree. Send them!!
