Yes, we can expect the corporate media to slant the news towards their corporate interests and even perhaps promote their favorite candidate or party, but to do it relentlessly and shamelessly, while claiming to be non-partisan is beyond the pale. What is further beyond the pale is twisting news and words to further their agenda. Or as Nancy Pelosi put it — “make up news.”
Here are today’s front pages of the NY Times and the Washington Post. It’s all about calls for Biden to drop out of the Presidential election.
Wash Post, July 10 -
This was a few days ago.
There was also the shameless peddling of this story a few days ago — Shameless media insinuates Biden has Parkinson's.
When will the NYT and WaPo cover the wretchedness and lunacy of trump?
How about writing about Biden's accomplishments or the Democracy-killing details of Project 2025 or trump's daily deluge of lies or Climate Change?
I suppose, we should stop expecting the nation’s top newspapers to be fair or have a conscience, given how they are controlled by self-centered billionaires and their minions who seem to prefer dictatorships to Democracy.
Of course, there are other smaller newspapers that care about Democracy.
Let’s not lose our own focus because of this relentless torrent of negative news and anxiety-inducing narratives pushed by these major news orgs. Let’s not fall for the narrative that Biden’s record and vision do not matter and neither do trump’s, that the Democratic base is stupid, that they don’t care about the dystopian Project 2025, that dropping Biden will lead to a magical Democratic win, blah blah. Let’s work to neutralize this narrative with the truth. Let’s not allow 2016 to repeat itself. Let’s stay strong, keep writing (including letters to the editors), discussing and spreading the truth about Biden, trump and the stark differences between the two parties and let’s work doubly hard to help Democrats win this November.
