The Tampa Bay Eco Boat Tour is run by the nonprofit Discovery Center at the St Pete Pier. It takes tourists out onto Tampa Bay, where a biologist tour guide and some interns point out the local wildlife. It starts with a three-minute dredge out in the middle of the bay in the seagrass beds, as part of an ongoing scientific study to monitor the aquatic life in the Bay. The crew goes through the entire catch, catalogues every living thing they find, and records it all before releasing everything back into the bay.
After that, the eco boat goes around Bird Island, where pelicans, egrets and cormorants have nesting sites. The tour takes about 90 minutes.
I had a great time. :)
